What does a Listing Agent do?

A Listing Agent plays a central role in helping customers get started and succeed with their sales across various marketplaces. The primary responsibility is to guide the customer through the onboarding phase and ensure that everything is correctly set up from the beginning. This includes product enrichment, where products are optimized with the right information, structure, and content to become visible and attractive.

A Listing Agent also works to ensure that the order flow runs smoothly, so that orders are handled correctly between systems and marketplaces without interruptions or errors.

In addition, the Listing Agent serves as the customer’s first point of contact and support throughout the journey. Through continuous dialogue and follow-ups, we ensure that the customer gets a stable start with the right conditions to grow and succeed in their sales via Sello.

Which part of the listing process takes more time than people think?

A part of the listing process that is often underestimated in terms of time is what happens behind the scenes, especially mapping, attribute mapping, and product enrichment.

Mapping involves connecting the customer’s product data to the correct structure according to marketplace requirements. It is rarely a simple standard solution and instead requires careful customization for each channel.

Attribute mapping is even more detailed. Each product’s characteristics, such as size, color, and material, need to be accurately matched to the marketplace’s specific fields. Small errors can result in products not being published or performing poorly.

Product enrichment also takes more time than many expect. It’s not just about filling in information, but about optimizing the content so that products both meet technical requirements and are compelling and visible.

Another time-consuming aspect is order testing. This can take time due to waiting periods between different systems, the need to verify that data flows correctly, and ensuring that all information such as order status, customer data, and delivery details is handled properly at every step. It often requires multiple tests and careful follow-up before everything works reliably.

In summary, it is the detailed, quality-assurance-focused tasks that take the most time. At the same time, these are the parts that lay the foundation for a functional and scalable sales operation.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of the job is seeing when all the work starts to pay off.

A particularly strong moment is when the first order goes through for a customer. It’s a clear confirmation that everything is working as it should, from setup and mapping to product data and workflows.

Equally rewarding is being able to follow the customer’s continued journey and watch their sales gradually grow. Knowing that you’ve helped lay the foundation for that development makes the work both meaningful and motivating.
