Who is Styling Agenten?

We started the company back in 2007. We invested SEK 1,000 each to start a company that could grow without a lot of capital but with great drive and many late nights.

The company sells everything in beauty products from well-known brands at good prices. Since 2022, we have also started https://fiskeonline.com/ where we sell products in sport fishing.

Why did you start with e-commerce?

With a limited budget, in 2007 it was the easiest way to expand a company. We were able to set up our websites ourselves and then also started cooperation with some salons to sell products on our e-commerce and pay for the products afterward.

Why did you decide to start selling on marketplaces? And how many marketplaces do you sell on today?

We started up already in 2007 and sold on Tradera at the same time as we started our own e-commerce site. We already saw early on that it was something that would grow and get bigger, so we very early on entered into dialogue with other marketplaces to acquire a good relationship and position there.

Today we sell on about 15 different marketplaces in large parts of Europe.

How did you find Sello and what made you choose Sello?

We found Sello thanks to knowing the background with Sello, that they started as sellers on Tradera but then saw great potential in simplifying handling and sales and then built a system that was simple and efficient. Before we had other connections where those who developed connections did not have it as a core business, we then saw how vulnerable it becomes and the long support times if there were errors in the integrations. When we contacted Sello, it was quite easy to want to test it as they had the same goal as us, that we should increase our sales, and where their entire system is based precisely on the fact that the connections to the marketplaces work seamlessly.

What have been your biggest challenges with e-commerce and how has Sello been able to help you with these?

Our growth has placed higher demands on our systems, which has meant that we have had to have a dialogue with Sello about how we can simplify our handling. Everything from connections via API to other systems to automated order processing. This has helped us from the point of view that we have grown and become bigger and have a more complex flow.

How has your sales/turnover increased in percentage since you started with marketplaces?

With our own e-commerce sites Stylingagenten and FiskeOnline.se as well as marketplaces, we have had a growth of between 20-60% per year. Our own channels are the biggest part, but the development of the marketplaces is essential and contributed to us being able to grow more on our own channels.

Would you recommend Sello to other e-tailers? If yes, why?

Absolutely, if you want to be able to accelerate your sales in new markets/countries through marketplaces, Sello is a given partner.

Do you see any particular trends for marketplaces?

Historically up to today, marketplaces have grown more than traditional e-commerce. In addition, traditional e-tailers have started to bring in other products via dropshipping and then partly become a marketplace, and I believe this trend will continue in the future. Even today, many brands choose to sell themselves on marketplaces or use a partner who does that handling for them. We see that trend continuing.

How do you think e-commerce will change in the next few years?

An important part for marketplaces going forward, where many do not have an optimal customer offer, is on the logistics/delivery side. There will be more marketplaces that will collaborate with a few e-tailers that they work more closely with current common shipping solutions. This means that the customer can already choose how they want the package delivered at checkout. I think the marketplaces that solve it in a good way will get big benefits. It also requires the sellers to be able to manage the logistics based on the customer's wishes.

Do you have any tips for other e-tailers that you wish you had received before you started?

Test a lot and dare to bet if you believe in your idea. It does not always have to be capital that you invest, but can also be time, where you always gather valuable experience regardless of the outcome. You can then take these with you next time.
