Who is John Henric?

John Henric was founded in 2008 by two friends, John Ekström and Nicklas Nordbergh in the historic city of Lund in Sweden. They started by producing high-quality accessories for exclusive fashion stores. After a while, they also started making shirts, knitted garments, trousers, and bags. Today, John Henric is a well-known brand that offers sustainable products of high quality.

Why did you start with e-commerce?

After much hesitation, we chose to launch our e-commerce. However, it was anything but a bed of roses. Very hard work and I had to learn a lot about e-commerce platforms and SEO, however, perseverance is the key to success.

Why did you decide to start selling on marketplaces?

We noticed the trend of marketplaces and thus felt we wanted to give it a shot. We want to be easily accessible to our customers, so being visible on well-known marketplaces where we know our customers are felt like a matter of course.

How did you find Sello and what made you choose Sello?

We found Sello through google but why we chose the company was because of its simplicity and culture. Due to Sello's service and price model, there was no risk of getting started.

What have been your biggest challenges with e-commerce and how has Sello been able to help you with these?

One challenge we had was that we were going to make a switch from Norce to Centra about a year ago. We had already been a customer of Sello for a while and had a connection to Norce and some marketplaces, so there was some work required to match the old Norce product with the new Centra product without having to create everything anew; as well as ensure that the products Sello fetched from Centra correctly matched the marketplaces we were/are live on. Thanks to Sello, the change went very smoothly.

How has your sales/turnover increased since you started with marketplaces?

It has increased well, we have an average turnover of 300,000 SEK/month on marketplaces.

Would you recommend Sello to other e-tailers? If yes, why?

We absolutely would as there is a low risk of starting up since there are no major costs. At the same time, the company is service minded and solves problems that arise.

Do you see any particular trends for marketplaces?

Trends and trends, what we see is that marketplaces are here to stay and that they are very good at driving traffic and of course sales. In other words, if you don't have your products on a marketplace today/planning to, then it's really time.

How do you think e-commerce will change in the next few years?

I believe that there will be even more e-tailers who jump on the train to become international. Why? Well, because it is so much easier today to expand and sell internationally than it was just a few years ago.

Do you have any tips for other e-tailers that you wish you had received before you started?

As with anything else, if you want to be good at something, there are no shortcuts. Go hard and give 100%. If you don't know how to do everything today, you can still be the best, it's all about your attitude. Make sure you are responsive and learn as much as you can along the way. In other words, your drive and motivation to move forward are much more important than your basic knowledge. Take one thing at a time, but never stop.
